Head Coach Judy Kessler

 

  • Graduated from Langley High School in inner-city Pittsburgh
  • Played high school and college fast pitch softball
  • Graduated from Slippery Rock in 1983 with an English education degree
  • Began teaching at KAHS in 1985 and retired in 2019
  • Under the tutelage of Dave Brown, coached the JV team in 1987 and 1988
  • Assisted Coach Brown in taking the 1988 team to the state finals
  • Began coaching varsity in 1990, winning the D9 title and getting to the State Final 8
  • Had leaves of absence from coaching in 1994, 1995, 2019 
  • Qualified for the district playoffs 26 of 29 seasons
  • Won the D9 title in 1990 (A), 1997 (A), 2004 (AA),  2017 (AA), and 2022 (AA)
  • Qualified for the Regional Final 4 in 1997 and the State Final 8 in 1990 and 1998
  • Of 29 coached seasons, 3 undefeated seasons and 4 below .500
  • Received four Coach of the Year awards
  • Enshrined into the KAHS Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017
  • Current varsity coaching season/playoff record: 343-182
